By far the most often used HR application management engines adopted by North American firms is Taleo. I can honestly say, from a prospective employee point-of-view, it is among the most frustrating. I’m certain that the software is effective in its means of discouraging applicants; only the very determined and eager will survive retyping all of their content into the multi-click, multi-page, multi-step application engine. As Marshall McLuhan appropriately quipped, “the Medium is the message.” Thanks to the Taleo software, that message looks like a telegram from 1932.
